Genetic Health Testing & Peace of Mind
Genetic health is an important part of our commitment to responsible breeding. Embark DNA genetic health testing has been completed on Maximus, Duke, Ellie, Kennedy, and Lainey as part of the health screening used within our Black Gold breeding program.
Each has tested clear for Degenerative Myelopathy (SOD1A), a progressive disorder affecting the spinal cord, and Myotonia Congenita (CLCN1 Exon 7), an inherited neuromuscular condition.
Embark’s comprehensive genetic screening also evaluates a broad panel of hereditary conditions involving major body systems, including the eyes, kidneys, bladder, brain and spinal cord, heart, gastrointestinal and neuromuscular systems, skin, and connective tissues.
Genetic testing allows us to make thoughtful, informed breeding decisions with the long-term health of our puppies and the Miniature Schnauzer breed always in mind.
